“This is the first remote hi-hat I've seen that is worthy of the name. The action is direct and immediate; there is utterly no slack or delay. I bought one at PASIC, took it home, tried it out, and bought two more. I've played remotes made by other manufacturers, and Bill's infernal device blows them out of the water. This is the way to go.”
-Nick Costa
“The Speedy Hat feels like an extension of my body—and I can’t believe how responsive and easy it is to play. Having the ability to locate the hi-hats wherever I want is a much bigger deal than I imagined, and this thing is amazingly adjustable. You really have to get one to ‘get it.’”
-Alvin King
“I won’t mince words—it’s the best feeling hi-hat I’ve ever played. You are right in that it is lighting fast and very, very responsive—Whoa. Plus I’m able to position my hi-hat EXACTLY where I want it! WOW! I can now go back to playing the way I love to, ambidextrously. Thank you for such a fine product, and let’s hope every drummer in the world orders one. I know if they tried one they would—immediately!”
-Michael Barton
"The Remote Speedy Hat is one of the best investments I've made to my drum kit yet. It has completely re-written the way that I play my set and the way I use my left hand. If you don't have one, you should buy one. Right now."
-Louis Riquelme
“My Speedy Hat arrived today, and I love it! Not only are the positioning options perfect, but the feel is so nice and comfortable, not heavy at all. I can set the footboard to whatever height I want. For the first time I feel like I have complete control over my hi-hats; now for the first time I feel like I can do foot splashes and will incorporate them into my playing. Thanks again, Bill. You've made a truly great product, and I hope with it you can kick the arse of some of the bigger companies who make inferior products.”
-Aaron Stricker
“The Remote Speedy Hat is one complete work of art! In the first minute of actual use I became a true believer—amazing response and great flexibility as far as setup goes. Thank you so much for the time and effort put into creating this beautiful beast. So many new possibilities!!!”
-Philip McKay
“I've had it out on the road since I got it, and I'm really loving the stand. I keep nudging the hats a little further over to the right, and now it sits just a little over the tom; it feels great. I play the hats 90% of the time and the tom about .5% of the time, so it works. I may have to get another one for my home studio kit.”
-Nic Milliner
“OH MY GOODNESS!!!—This is the best hi-hat stand I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing! It’s so smooth, so fast, and just perfect. Thanks for creating this. I really appreciate it, and I can’t wait to play some gigs with it!”
-JW Anderson
“Bill, I received the Remote Speedy Hat today—and it's GREAT!!!—easy set up, great feel and response. I brought it to a friend to try on his set, and he's sold too! It’s a great piece of equipment and one of the best investments I've made. Thank you!”
-Joe Annis
“Hi Bill, I think the Speedy Hat is brilliant! I love the adjustability, speed, and build-quality—especially for the price. Thank you for making this awesome piece of hardware available for such a good price. It has definitely changed my drumming style for the better!”
-Rob Lord
“Last night was the first gig that I played with your Remote Speedy Hat. I was playing with the ____ cable hat prior to this. I can't tell you how much different the Remote Speedy Hat’s response is in comparison to the ____ cable hat. It was amazing to me. Before I had to almost anticipate when I wanted to do a hi-hat splash, but now it's immediate—and it feels great. Thanks for all your hard work.”
“I received the Remote Speedy Hat today and was able to put it together in no time. It feels great and allows me to place the hats in exactly the right place so that I no longer have to cross. I can now play the hats both right-handed and left-handed with ease. The Speedy Hat allows me to position the bass and snare drums at positions that make my overall playing more comfortable. The enhancement in ergonomics will help me improve my technique without a doubt.”
“This spring I purchased a Remote Speedy Hat. My first impression was how ‘direct’ feeling the touch was between the pedal and my cymbals. I play my hats in the noon position over my snare, and the Speedy Hat works perfectly. My second impression was how easy it is to tear down and then to set up again in the same position. Ingenious and well-done.”
-Ed Groves
“G'day Bill. Took my new Remote Speedy Hat on its first test run at band rehearsal last night. All I can say is.....HOLY CRAP! Your gear performed waaay beyond expectations. Great design and excellent feel. Blew my now dead-in-the water ____ hat stand off the chart.....absolutely no comparison.”
-Dean Gurak
“The Remote Speedy Hat is an amazingly well-thought-out and well-built machine! Since I got my first kit in 2001 it has been a constant struggle with snare height and hi-hat placement. Two days with your product.....Problem solved! I have always been a little jealous of my friends that play open-handed and now I dont have to be! Thanks again, keep up the good work!
-Dan Steele
This hi-hat is a blast. I own six different drum kits and bought one just for the fun of it. I really didn't think it was something I would use often. Once I set it up on my main kit, I was hooked. I totally rearranged the drums and put the hi-hat front and center. Two toms on the left and three on the right. (That's huge coming from someone who's played for nearly forty years - many professionally.) I was able to play patterns that I never would be able to attempt with a regular pedal. A fellow musician friend of mine said it best when he said, "That's so logical. Why didn't anybody invent that sooner?" Now I can't wait to rearrange my other kits.

PASIC Remote Speedy Hat Debut
The Remote Speedy Hat was debuted at the Percussive Arts Society's International Convention (PASIC) in November of 2009. The response was absolutely amazing and overwhelmingly positive. By all accounts it was the hit of the show, many were told that it was the best new product there and that they had to go see it and play it to believe it. The following quotes are from people who stopped by the booth and tested it out. Many are from top name players, others from people entrenched in the industry, and others from everyday drum enthusiasts at the show. I'm leaving the quotes anonymous since many would have conflicts of interest and I certainly do not want to exploit anybody. Here we go:
| "When they ask me what was new and cool at the show I'll tell them about this, it's definitely at the top of the list." "Everyone's been trying to do this for years, but this one works." "The action is perfect." "There's no latency, that's for sure." "This is the best thing about PAS, new ideas and innovation that improves the art." "I have a ____ remote hi hat, but it doesn't compare to this." "You're limited here (air drums crossed over), and you never really realize it until you get to play uncrossed." "It doesn't feel like a remote." "When the cymbals hit you can feel it in your bones, there's no mush." "I want to change my set up, but I'm always limited by that stupid hi hat on the left, now I can." "I had three people come and tell me to check this thing out." "I like this, beats the crap out of my ____ remote hi hat." "I've been waiting for something like this to come out." "It's very nice and secure feeling." "Oh yeah, this thing is definitely going viral." "The best thing about it is that it works." "It feels like a pedal should, thanks for doing this." "This meets a definite need and is very useable." "I have the ____ remote hi hat and don't use it, this one works." "You really feel a direct pull on it, it's really incredible." "I'm going to go home and be like, 'This is wrong!' (air drums crossed over)" "It's nice when you see something that's actually innovative, very nice." "I asked what's new and exciting at the show and they told me to check out Bill Bachman's hi hat." "This is great, I love it." "I have a ____ remote hi hat, you press the pedal and sometime next week the cymbals close. Now it makes sense." |
